The traffic in my brain is driving me insane

There are so many things I would like to say and explain. There are just these things that are bothering me and it affects me more than I would like to admit or say. I've never had many friends. And maybe I'm not the type of girl for it or maybe people just don't like me. And that was at primary school, at high school and now at this school. At primary school I tried to fit in and I acted like I thought they wanted me to act and people still didn't liked me. I didn't had one good friend in my class. Only outside of school. When I went to high school I still had the same problem. Only people (they didn't even knew me) thought that I was arrogant. Apparently me face looked like that. I still had frequently a fight with this girl in my class, because she provoked me and I said what I thought of her. And she also said all kinds of things about me and everyone believed her. After the first year she dropped out. The second year on high school I got more friends. In total we were with five of us. And I really thought I had some good friends. What was I wrong. I got into a fight with one of my 'friends'. She managed to set everyone against me. The whole class, except for one girl. We were friends trough the whole high school period, but even she treated me like crap sometimes. There were so many moments that I was at school and just wanted to go home and not because of the classes I had, but because of the people. Especially in the last year of high school. I was so unhappy and I did some things I really regret now. But I'm not going to say more about that. I was SO SO glad when I was done with high school. I thought that everything would be different at my new school. And it was in the first year. I liked to go to school, I liked the people and I really had friends. I could get along with everyone in my class. I never experienced that before. But all of that changed this year. I have the feeling that I'm no longer welcome and that I annoy them. I'm just hanging around them, being quiet and I really do try to talk along with them, but then they give me this face. This face that I have to shut up and that everything I say is not interesting. And everytime I keep thinking I just have to keep acting happy and talk to them. And I do that. I do that and I try to talk along and I keep trying. But it is so exhausting. I keep feeling that I'm alone.

Like yesterday. Everyone had to go back to school. Our internship has ended, everyone had to turn in their essays. And when I walked in the classroom, I stopped to look around who was there and saw two girls that I mostly 'hang out' with at school. I walked towards them and said hi and asked how everything was and whatever. And they said everything was fine and that's it. So I walked away to an empty chair and just sat there. After everything was done, we could go home. And I was walking with those two girls and they were talking to each other and I was feeling like I was the fifth weel. And finally they agreed to do something together wednesday after school and they didn't asked me anything. And it doesn't sound worse or anything like that now. But it always went like this. At primary school, at high school and now. I keep feeling like I'm such an outsider.

I talked to boyfriend about this and he thinks it's because they maybe can't stand the fact that I'm always honest. Or that I have some expensive shoes. But I didn't had shoes like these at primary or high school. So what's the excuse for that? I just can't figure out why people keep acting to me this way. And if I didn't had Evi or boyfriend, I wouldn't had no one. Except for my mom and dad. But you can't keep doing things with your parents. I like it do things with them, but sometimes you just want to do things with friends.

And actually is my blog kind of my escape from the real world. It's the place where people actually give me the chance to be myself and don't judge you the moment they see you. It's my little world where everything is postive. Mostly. So when I get a negative comment from someone, it can bother me so incredibly much. And that's also the reason why I react so intense to it. It's my place, where everything has to be positive and when someone has something negative to say, I can get really mad about it. Maybe because that shows me that this isn't an escape.

Maybe it isn't a good idea to tell this whole story here and I also don't mean this as a cry for attention. On the contrary. Writing this off relieves me and I just need someone who can maybe explain this to me. Who can give me advice how I can handle this. Boyfriend, dad and my mom already helped me a bit, but in some way it just doesn't really helpes me. And I don't mean this mean to them, I really don't. Isn't it that people don't listen to advice from people they love, but do listen to advice from people they don't know? Oh, maybe it isn't or maybe it is. Don't know.

Even right now I'm feeling a bit better I must say. I even have this 'just let them' attitude at the moment. But if someone does have some advice for me or lives in a similar situation and found a way to deal with it, I would like to hear it. And as a thank you for the ones who read this whole post (respect if you did it), I am going to post an outfit. It wasn't my intention at first actually.

Sam, I just want to give you a bit of encouragement... hang in there ok? I can offer you no better explanation for the cruelty of your "friends" than, girls can be mean. That's it. Honestly we've all been through this kind of thing, and I've never found a good explanation for why some girls are that way. Hopefully they will grow up, or you will be able to find some more mature friends :) All I know is that for me all that crazy-ness ended once I started college. About the nasty blog comments, we all get those too. I don't even read them. As soon as there's a hint of nasty I hit delete. Just ignore it. There will always be the nasty people out there, but you are great, just ignore them!! Meanwhile, rocking outfit today!

Aww *hug*
I completely understand feeling like the 'fifth wheel'. I was never one of those people who fit in at school either as people thought I was weird and too different most of the time.
What matters is you know who you are and that you love yourself! Keep your head up high, you are still young, you will make great friends in the future as long as you continue being honest and nice.
Don't let these people turn you into something you're not.

PS love your red jacket!

heyhey,

Komt ie:

Hey hey!

I first want to tell you that I do understand how you feel. I've always felt like I was the fifth weel, but one day I just decided NOT to accept it anymore! I've decided to NOT let them get me, to just be the person I WANT to be. Girls are ridiculous, I mean.. They always say thing like: 'You're soooo overdressed Sharon' or 'You look terrible Sharon!'. I felt bad about that, but then I realized that this was ME, that this was my own personal style! And your style is GREAT, you know that ;) I seriously hope this will help you, because this has helped me so much :)

Amen to your clothes! Haha!

Great blog, just be a little more confident!

Love, Sharon

Nobody is 'not the type for friends'. If you don't have friends at school, but outside of it you do, who's problem is it then? Not yours, right? And the days might take long, believe me, I know how you feel.. but there are at least six billion people on this planet, and the kids in your school are just a few that are snobby. I'm not trying to get you down even more, because I'm trying to say that I would absolutely be your friend, you seem like a total sweet girl, and I know that all the other of your blog-readers and admirers for not just what you wear, but who you are and what you do, would be your friend. It doesn't matter where you 'find' your friends, just that you do.

I totally agree with Fannah!

I'll say honestly then I really often reading the bloggers text, but not this time.I really agree with Hannah, that nobody isn't the type for a friends, just maybe you're not like others in school, you live difrerent live and for some people is just realy hard to understand and admit that. It's really strange to read you minds, cause I thought that only I'm react too sensitive to bad comments and not objective critisism and I always felt very strange about that, but now I see that is really normal :) So, hung up your nose :)

re; thank you for the nice comment about my pictures!

I also had it like that when I was younger, and still a bit now (even tho it might not seem like it). My friends were nice to me outside of school or when they were alone, but at school and togeather they would gang up on me, and i would feel pretty alone and as a fift wheel. With some of my oldest friends I still feel uncomfterble talking about that time, becase they knew me back then, but they didnt know the real me.

Now I started a new school, and I made many new friends and I am really grateful for it. But really I just want to get away from this place. My best friend live in Holland, and I miss her.

Hope things will work out for you too! I dont really have many tips .. Just be yourself and dont try to be anyone else :)
I really like your blog!

it's similiar with me. I'm not the girl for a best friend, I had some but after some time I 'broke up' with everyone, not in a fight, just in a way of personal development which made the difference between us larger and larger. it always hurts me so much, but I just think that not always the other ones are the fool, I am, too. I guess it's better to have some quite good friends than one best, cause you just don't hang around each other all the time and you get different opinions on subjects. I think there's one time in the life of everyone, where friends come and friends stay. some day you'll meet the right people and they'll make you happy :-)

I just want to say in the short time I have read your blog you seem like a lovely person and there's no reason for you not to be the type who can't have friends. I'm almost done high school and I haven't really made any new friends, I think it's because everyone is going through a time when they are only aware of themselves and don't realizer they're hurting other people. I don't know how your education works in the Netherlands, but if you go on to college I think you will find a lot more people who will share the same interests as you. I think if you're just nice and friendly there's no reason why you shouldn't make more friends!
Also I've noticed you're interested in sewing, maybe there are classes you can take so that you meet other girls who like to do the same thing?
As for your outfit, I love it! The jacket and lace shirt are look amazing.

Sam said...

Seriously, I want thank all of you so so so much! It means so much to me. I can't believe how nice everyone is to me... Really, thank you all SO much!

And at Emlyn,
I'm already in 'college'. I'm doing the education Fashion and Clothing and I'm in a class where almost everyone shares the same interests. So sadly enough it isn't really an option.. But thank you so much for the sweet comment^^

I'm really sorry to hear about this. And yes, this sometimes happens to me, too, and I feel really bad about it. But I don't know what to tell you, I don't know what to do, too. What makes me feel better is thinking about my family and their love.

Love the outfit by the way.

Hi Sam. we don't really know each other, but I vist your site sometimes and I read this post today and I just wanted to say that I sometimes feel the way you do.
There are times that I sit alone, and I don't have anyone to talk to. I have some friends but sometimes I have the feeling that they don't really care about me.
I don't know what advice I could give you, because I don't know what to do myself.
If you'll find some resolution or something like this let me know, because it's really hard for me sometimes to live like this.
Oh my, what I just wrote, it really sounded pesymistic and sad...
I'm not that kind of person. Usually :)

Hi Sam,

Hey Sweetie,
i think alot of people have said what i'm about to say, but im going to say it anyway.
Girls are jealous. I know, you think your mum says that to make you feel better, dont you? but its true.. Im 23 and ive never belonged to a particular group because girls get nasty when they are together. Your boyfriend is right, if you tell people what you think they're going to be more intimidated by you too. Its taken me a while but sometimes biting your tongue really does help. just worry about those who are good to you, dont give people who make you feel bullied your time, not even a little thought. you'll be a stronger lady for it.
also dont say and act how you think people want you to be, be yourself :) like you are here.

ps this outfit is hot to trot xx

Hang in there. "This too shall pass."

Oh dear, Sam, I'm sorry you had a tough time. f it helps at all, I HATED school. I was teased and bullied for years. It was only when I was seventeen that things started to straighten out. School can be awful, girls can be awful, and you're not going to be stuck there for much longer. When you get out into the real world, people will appreciate you like they do here! :)

Hi Sam,
I'm so sorry for you that we have to read another sad post on your blog! I might form my advice/opinion somewhat different than the ladies did before me: just don't care about these mofos, care about those who are close to you, don't let yourself bother by people like those girls. Or, if you just can't negligate them, show them who's the boss. Anyway, I hope you'll get better soon, cheer up!

Did I mention I love your jacket and the crazy-crazy wedges by Stella? :)

Hi Sam,
Heel apart (positief).

well i dont think i am going to say anything new but i did want to let you know that everyone has a feeling of not belonging at some point it may not be in school it might be later on in life but the truth of the matter is that we are all different and we all have different tastes so of course not everyone will agree and thats just life and we have to accept that we cant please everyone (so dont try to act one way so that that person will like you its not worth it)
the best thing to do is to keep positive and definately do not put any blame on yourself or look for faults because it is never about us it is always about the other person. if you dont click then well ok but if someone is out right mean then it usually is something that is wrong with them, inside them, something that is insecure in them that they havent (and may never) worked out yet. so ok they dont like ok move on dont waste time trying to win them over you will find people that are drawn to you and you wont have to win them you will see, but its not something that happens magically over night or because you change schools or jobs its just life and it goes at the pace it should and sometimes that pace is slow but keep your head high. from this blog you seem like a lovely girl and no reason to think you cant make friends, dont feel down about it just know that this will pass.
hugs to you

Sam: I've been reading your blog for over a year now and I've never written a comment before but it seems like you really need some love right now!!! Don't worry about people not liking you!!! You have a ton going for you! You are gorgeous, you have a great looking boyfriend, you have great parents, you have Evi. And I know sometimes it feels like this isn't enough but from my experience it is better to have at least one great person in your life than a bunch of two-faced jerks. I kind of understand what you're going through cause I don't really have a lot of friends, and I almost didn't talk to anyone in high school, and part of it was because I was really shy and I think I was kind of old for my age, but then I got a job and my co-workers are all older than me and I have a blast!!! They don't care that I speak my mind!!Which I do a lot!! And most people can't stand an honest person because they are insecure about their flaws ... but that's their problem, not yours! So keep on being the person you are and you will eventually find people who love that!! On a separate note... I absolutely love your style!!! And that jacket is absolutely amazing!!!! All your clothes are!!! And I kind of agree with your boyfriend that people are jealous of your shoes!!! the whole package actually! it really takes a lot of confidence to have the kind of style you have cause you follow no rules and you are super chic! and you're only 17!!! That's impressive!!! I seriously admire your ability to put clothes together because sometimes I see something you buy and I think it's not that pretty and then you put it in an outfit and it looks awesome! So keep up the good work and don't worry about people!!! remember that the things that are worth having in your life never come easy! i think a sweet person like you will find good friends eventually!!! ... Tania

Aww...don't worry. People can be jealous of those that are more talented, smarter, or nicer than they are. They feel threatened so they make things up or make you feel bad so they don't have to. You are an amazing person, don't let those nasty girls bring you down!

I am in love with that vintage jacket! Swooning!

I always had similar problems at school but I felt okay with my outside role. I don't like being around with too many people and I don't like superficial friendships. I prefer to have a few really good friends. When you descrice the situation in your class today I think it would be the best just to talk to the two firls. They maybe don't even recognize that they hurt you. You went away to the lonely chair and you don't asked to go with them on your way home. Maybe they think now that you don't want to be with them. I think a talk is the best way to find out the true.

About blogs and insults: I agree with you. My blog is a hobby and a escape, too and I also don't like being attackes by others. We all have to face enough bad stuff in the "real" world.

Last but not least: you look lovely. I adore the blouse :).

It's great that you are so honest in your post, I just can say don't worry about mean people at school, you have your parents, a boyfriend, maybe girls are jealous of you because you are pretty, the most important is to stay focus on what is important in your life and what you want to do. And the most important relationship is the relationship you have with yourself!

hey,

I think you will find that you're not alone in feeling alone. :) I've always had a hard time in my real life with making friends and keeping up friendships. I never really understood it either, but I think my personality is just very different from most people. Almost all of my favorite people (including my husband) are people I've met online.

I guess all you can do is try not to take it personally when people act like that toward you! Just remember that there are people out there who read your blog and think you're really neat. :) That outfit is adorable!

Oh, sweetie, I'm sorry to hear that! If it's any comfort at all, that's how I felt throughout most of my school years as well. I always felt like an outcast and as if no one really liked me. Not a nice feeling. Even now I don't feel like I have a lot of close friends, which is a bit sad at times - but then again, I like my own company as well. However, many people - even myself - have better friendships when they get older because people seem to get more mature.

That band jacket is really pretty. Great find!

Oh, London in August, lucky you! If you like clothes from Dahlia, you should go to their shop in Carnaby Street ... it's really lovely!

Girls can be bitches (excuse my language but its true). I went through something like this when I was in grade 5, I tried to change for my friends becuase I thought it was what they wanted. It didnt work and I ended up more hurt. My advice is to just be yourself, becuase its really not worth trying to be someone else. I would try going up to different people and try making new friends. Its not always easy and I really hope things work out for you, because you really seem like an amazing person, and I remember when I first started reading your blog you were someone who I thought wow, I would really like to be friends with her. Keep the friends you have close because they are priceless and are extreemly lucky to have you. I really hope things work out, it really sucks feeling like you dont fit in and everyone feels that way sometimes.
Good luck with everything.
Belle
ps. I love your jacket.

Oh I love that jacket I really do its so pretty. 0.0

I think almost everyone has had that happen sometime in their lives. I'm for the most part considered a loner at my school. I have friends there and all but I never really get to see them at school. I believe that it's better to hang out with people who really care about you instead of people who are just there for appearance sake.uh I hope that made sense.

I totally went through something similar to your situation. When I went to college, I always felt like I had to be a different person and be happy & just say what other people would want to hear. It is exhausting and I do agree with you that even today I still feel like I'm alone. However, you just have to find people you can truly connect with and won't judge you for who you are. Always stay positive and just reach out to those that brighten up your life.

I agree with you about the blogging world. :) I feel like everything is positive and there are wonderful people who will accept me for I am and won't judge me. If people leave rude comments, simply delete those nasty comments & block those mean people. Those people have nothing better to do with their lives than to be mean to others to make them feel better, which is pretty pathetic. So stay positive and keep moving on towards the future. Live in the present and let the past behind. :)

By the way, love the outfit! and your room is so adorable just like you & your style :)

Lieve Sam,

Genoeg over mij.

As simple and pathetic as that!

xxx Rebecca

i don't have much advice other than ignore it because girls can be harsh. i was bullied beyond belief in middle school but all it did was help me in the future - every bad experience is still a learning process that you can get goodness out of.

Wow you have a lot of people on here willing to talk to you.

First, lovely outfit. Secondly, I can empathize with you. I have never been the girl with a huge following of friends. It has always been maybe one really close friend and that was it. I'd prefer more laid back socialization, or alone time. And I think this comes across as I am not interested in people. I have no idea if that is what's doing it for you. But I am just hoping to help you find some insight.

Best to you! And stay fashionable.

Love Grace.

en grrrreat outfit! xx

Herkenning,herkenning.
Ik ben precies even oud.(Dit jaar 17,toch?)

Girls can be so terrible... Some thrive on seeing other people unhappy. I've experience it. Jealousy is usually the main reason of why they act this way... it's like a defense mechanism for people with no personality. Just hold your head high girl, you're obviously a very nice person.

I never understood those people myself... To me, a girl who succeeds or looks good or achieve anything good is a reason to be proud of being a girl. That's how we should see the world.

Lovely outfit. =)

I can totally feel like an outfider too, like no one cares what I am saying or will even try to understand what I am saying. It's very frusterating. I'm in my last year of middle school, in Middle School as it sounds like you know, it's difficult. You never know if your'e friends really are your friends or not. I changed who my friends were drastically recently, now i'm just trying to make sure i will stick friends with them. Sometimes they are constantly happpy and i'm not, someimes i eel i have to be the same. On the other hand, i love your outfit so much. I want your band jacket incredibly so much and i love it with the lace top!

just to let you know, i'm back, finally free from exams honey! and thanks for your lovely comments! :D

aw, reading that made me emotional, and I really feel for you! I went through the exact same thing about 3/4 years ago..I didn't have any real friends, I just hung out with a few people who were just horrible and treated me like crap.
It really gets you down I know, but you are so lucky to have a wonderful boyfriend and your parents - but I understand what you are saying, you can't keep doing things with your parents.

my advice would be, it sounds like these friends are just getting you down. you dont need people treating you that way and making you feel like this. what I did, was went out and found new friends. find friendly people in your school, and even if you have never spoken to them before, try to form a bond with them or something, and become friends. I know it sounds difficult and strange, but thats what I did, and now I have amazing friends, who I had never spoke to a few years ago.
you will come through this stronger and happier, I promise you!
and your blogger-friends are always here for you! and if you ever need to talk, you know where I am! stay strong!!!!!! :D

gorgeous outfit, as always!

Meissie, ik begrijp er niets van!! Je lijkt me zo'n leuk meisje, echt waar!

Lijkt me hartstikke gezellig!! =D
